Privacy Policy
We don't collect your personal data. Your tracking data stays on your iPhone — we never see it, access it, or transmit it.
The Simple Version
We don't collect your personal data. Period.
Your tracking data stays on your iPhone. We never see it, access it, or transmit it to our servers. We don't use analytics, we don't track usage, and we don't sell data. This isn't marketing—it's how Numerate is fundamentally built.
What Data We Collect
Personal Data: None
Numerate does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. This includes:
- Your name, email address, or contact information
- Your tracking data (items, values, history)
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Location data
- Usage analytics or behavioral data
- Crash reports containing personal information
Technical Data: Minimal
The only data we receive is standard App Store information, managed entirely by Apple:
- App Downloads: Standard App Store metrics (we see aggregate numbers, not individual users)
We cannot link any App Store data to individual users or their tracking data.
How Your Data is Stored
Local Storage Only
All tracking data is stored locally on your iPhone using SwiftData, Apple's secure data persistence framework. Your data never leaves your device unless your iPhone backs up to iCloud or a computer (controlled by you).
Photos attached to history entries are also stored locally on-device and are never transmitted.
Siri, Shortcuts & Widgets
Numerate integrates with Apple system features that are processed entirely on your device:
- Siri: Voice commands are processed by Apple. Numerate only receives the action intent (e.g. "log 5 for Weight") — no audio is sent to or stored by Numerate.
- Widgets: Built with Apple's WidgetKit framework. Widget data is read locally from your device and is never transmitted.
- Shortcuts: Automations run entirely on-device. Numerate actions within Shortcuts do not transmit data externally.
Data Security
Device-Level Protection
Your data is protected by your iPhone's built-in security:
- Device encryption (automatic on iOS)
- Face ID / Touch ID / Passcode protection
- App sandboxing (prevents other apps from accessing Numerate)
- Secure Enclave for cryptographic operations
No Server Vulnerabilities
Because we don't have servers storing user data, we eliminate the risk of:
- Data breaches
- Unauthorized server access
- Insider threats
- Third-party compromises
The most secure server is no server at all.
Data Sharing
We don't share your data because we don't have it.
Numerate does not share, sell, rent, or trade user data with any third parties for any purpose. We don't use third-party analytics services, advertising networks, or data brokers.
No Third-Party Services
Numerate does not integrate with:
- Analytics platforms (no Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.)
- Advertising networks
- Social media platforms (no Facebook SDK, etc.)
- Third-party tracking services
Children's Privacy
Numerate does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children under 13. Because we don't collect personal data at all, COPPA compliance is straightforward: there's nothing to collect, nothing to protect, and nothing to delete.
Your Rights
Access Your Data
All your data is on your device. You have complete access at all times through the Numerate app. You can export your data to JSON at any time.
Delete Your Data
You can delete individual items, archive items, or delete the entire app to remove all data. Because we don't store your data on servers, deleting the app permanently removes everything.
Data Portability
You can export and import your data in JSON format. Your data is never locked into proprietary formats.
Law Enforcement Requests
We cannot provide user data to law enforcement because we don't possess user data. Any lawful request would need to be directed at the user's device itself, which is protected by:
- Device encryption
- Passcode/biometric authentication
- Fourth Amendment protections (in the US)
We have received zero law enforcement requests for user data, and if we did, we would have nothing to provide.
International Users
Because all data stays on your device, there are no cross-border data transfers to worry about. Your data doesn't leave your country (or your pocket) unless you physically travel with your iPhone.
GDPR Compliance (Europe)
While GDPR technically doesn't apply (we're not a data controller or processor of personal data), our privacy practices exceed GDPR requirements:
- Right to access: You always have full access
- Right to deletion: Delete anytime
- Right to portability: Export to JSON anytime
- Right to be forgotten: Delete app = data gone
CCPA Compliance (California)
Similarly, CCPA doesn't technically apply because we don't "sell" personal information (we don't collect it). But for transparency:
- We do not sell personal information
- We do not share personal information for advertising
- We do not collect personal information
Changes to This Policy
If we ever change our privacy practices (which would require fundamental architectural changes), we will:
- Update this policy with clear explanations
- Update the "Last Modified" date at the top
- Notify users through the app
- Make any new data collection opt-in only
Our commitment: We will never compromise on privacy without clear user consent and transparent communication.

App Store Privacy Label
Our App Store privacy label states: "No Data Collected"
Apple enforces these labels. If we claimed "no data collected" but actually collected data, Apple would remove Numerate from the App Store. This isn't just a promise—it's enforced.
